Dear Java, I hate you. Stop scaring small children by eating kittens. Me, along with everyone else, hates you and wishes you would die. Personally, I hope you get replaced (which will happen eventually) with something easier, like AppleScript, very, very soon. With much hate, me PS. I hope you choke on your own stupidity and die.
So the other stuff: This is all Colleen's fault (why did you remind me of this place?!)... and the fact that I actually remembered my password. But anyway, I've been reading Better Days. It is one weird web "comic." There is some pretty crazy plot things going on but I was enthralled for some reason. Maybe it was because all the characters are cats, dogs, hyenas, mice, and a couple others. It starts off with the main characters being 9 year old twins (cats) and how they grow up. They're already in college so it moves along fairly quickly. The beginning is a lot of comedy but it turns into more drama (which is really weird for me) as it goes along.
But mainly: http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/ Everyone needs to get this. Now. Then we can have massive battles and such. It's free and you can play online. Not much more you can want. |

So... I'm back to the internet and computing in general (my Alienware laptop died for those slow on the uptake). Since many people (aka none of you) are curious about my new computer, here are the stats (mobo and optical drives excluded due to their lack of performance changing abilities):
Inside the machine: Intel Pentium 4 Presscott 3.2 with HT Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 120 GB GEIL Dual 2GB DDR2 533 Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value SB0400 (can handle 7.1 surround) Asus Radeon Extreme AX850XT Platinum Edition 256 GDDR3 Outside the machine: Saitek Eclipse Keyboard (it lights up) Logitech Z-5500 505 Watts 5.1 Speakers (wattage is continuous. It has about a 1000 watt peak) ViewSonic N2750w Black 27" LCD TV Monitor
Yes the monitor is that big. It also functions as a TV on the odd chance it's 11:00 and there is a new episode of The Daily Show on. In games, there is no ghosting and the picture is always crisp. It has a 900:1 contrast ratio if I remember correctly and has an 8ms response time (not gray-to-gray like some of those cheap guys try and fool you with). Plus there are no dead pixels which is always a fear and it only cost $740! That's like murdering half the orphanage and throwing the burning corpses of at the rest! Now how that is an anology for getting such a great deal, I have no idea. I just wanted to disturb anyone reading this. |

Dear United States of America citizens, You make me want to vomit and I hope you all die soon. With hatred, Devon PS. Explanation will follow.
So I watched "The Greatest American" yesterday. I would have commented on this yesterday but I would have smashed my keyboard out of anger and frustration. Normally, I would disagree with the use of the electoral college, but yesterday proved to me why we need to keep the idiots' voices from being heard. Reagan won. lmsdkglmsdaflmsdsa[omdvg[lmsdapvpkondavgmn Sorry about that. My anger has me banging the keyboard again. I want to know how Reagan beats out Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Abraham Lincoln? I wouldn't mind to put Reagan in the top 25, sure (at place 25 or so mind you), but not only did he get in the top five, he won it all?!? What makes it even worse was the fact that George W. Bush got 6th and Bill Clinton got 7th. You may know that I swing towards the Democrat's way of thinking but even I, as much as I thought Bill was a good president, think that he shouldn't have made it to the top 100. You may be thinking that if I cared so much that I should have voted and that this rant is nothing but an angry after effect of my own laziness. I did vote. I voted for Dr. King from the very beginning. You may also be wondering who I would have put instead of many of the choices that seem wrong (Dr. Phil, George W. Bush, etc.). Well, Louie Armstrong and Earnest Hemingway (many other literary masters come to mind) come to mind rather quickly.
My list. Note that some reasons are long and some reason are short. The short ones (Dr. King for example) speak for themselves. The long ones (FDR), I just had more to say. 1) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a martyr for the civil rights cause. He knew his life was in danger and he had feeling that he was going to die before his vision became a reality but he continued onward, thinking of others at his own expense. 2) Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I don't think any person past or present changed the world so much as FDR. If he hadn't been so strong in his urges to stop isolationism and to fight Hitler (who he knew was a huge threat to the world) we would probably all under German control. If he hadn't started the Manhattan Project when he did, the German's would be the ones to have nuclear weapons at their command (they were about 2 months from finishing when they surrendered). The nuclear age brought on the Cold War changing the political landscape of the world even more. 3) Abraham Lincoln. Without him, there would be no civil rights to defend (although I believe someone would have eventually freed the slaves if Abe hadn't). 4) George Washington. Without him, there would be no America (as with Lincoln, I believe someone would come along eventually. Also note that he would be higher if it weren't for the fact that he owned slaves). Another thing that makes me like Washington was that he was against political parties. He knew of the division it would cause. His fears are realized even today when a Democrat is called a Communist baby killer and a Republican is called a war mongering tycoon. Even the smaller parties get hit with this division (Green party is the best example, being called a pot smoking hippies) which is really pathetic on America's part. 5) The Wright Brothers. They were the top innovators on my list. They demonstrated how American ingenuity could be used to defy gravity. They also displayed how the American dream can turn two bicycle repair men into the two most influential people in aviation history. |

First Item: Everyone get Guild Wars. Made a Guild called Java Nerds (clever aren't I?). Join it now. Forward this info to everyone else. Second Item: Need someone to go fireworking with. Warning: I work in Waldorf, Maryland. If you need to stay at my house so I can give you a ride then we can work things out. If you see George or Bryan (Deeter) online, forward this message to them as in they have already expressed interest. |

So many things happened that I just had to post. First off, I learned some pretty neat stuff like that my body doesn't actually need sleep (although it does enjoy it quite a bit). Then some pretty crazy things happened: I downloaded a movie that was supposedly in English but then I found out that it was actually in French (I'm downloading the (hopefully) English version right now). And I recently saw the Price is Right for the first time in quite a few years. This one guy overbid on the Showcase Showdown by $96. He was in shock for quite a while. The other guy was an old person who won a scooter (which I found fitting), an iPod (which I found amusing), and a Mercedes Benz (which I found very irritating). Oh, and I was some sort of graduate... thing, for some.... dealy. I can't really remember, but I bet it wasn't too important. |
